KARL BY KARL LAGERFELD

A lot of the leathers are faux, but the monotone colour palette really gets me. The cheapest item is a $25 tote bag or $55 for a pair of signature Karl fingerless gloves (both items now sold out).
The most expensive is a $1500 snake skin-effect jacket.
Karl first Launched his collection at a pop-up store in Paris, and then simultaneously in London, New York, Berlin and Sydney jumped on board on the 26th of January.
The pop up stores gave out free gifts, but no clothes were actually available to purchase. Instead, using a smart phone, buyers were asked to take photos of the garments they’d like to buy online.
I personally really like the pleated skirt, the poplin blouse and the series of collars.

ALEXANDER WANG FEATURING DIE ANTWOORD

It’s based on the “off-duty model” look that we’ve all come to know and love him for.
This year for his Spring collection, he collaborated with South African rap duo, Die Antwoord. I never would have thought. I imagine they would’ve been pretty surprised when they we’re asked to make a video for a high-end, American Fashion Designer. I wonder how they met!??! I know that Diplo has worked with Die Antwoord a fair bit, and he is quite close with Alexander, being the face of his Spring 2011 collection.
I love that Harpers Bazaar and Vogue have been Tweeting about Die Antwoord when they have a song called “Rich Bitch” where Yolandi is dressed in a gold body suit, covered in faux gold jewellery and sitting on a toilet making fun of women who have an abundance of useless possessions.
These odd collaborations seem to work so well, and only make me admire Wang as a designer so much more.

Die Antwoord have also just realeased their new single, titiled “I fink u freeky” where you can see some of the pieces that are printed in the campaign photos. I am mostly posting this vide to remind you how strange and wonderful Die Antwoord are.
Alexander Wang has also worked with Alice Dellal a lot over the span of his career. She is one of my favourite models, so I love that they hang out.
I was just reminded of this shoot from Interview magazine in March 2010.
