It's difficult these days, what with fast fashion, and cheap alternatives everywhere. All I want is to make nerdy and goth shirts and hoodies, but I have competition. Internet artists are a dime a dozen (with each one better than the last). AI trawls the net looking for "I want this on a t-shirt" comments on social media posts and steals artist's original content. A lot of artists get around this with watermarks, and now a lot of artists are using tools like Glaze to poison AI's attempts to steal art. It's hard out there for artists, you know?
I'm trying my best to make art that makes me happy, and at the same time, find ways of producing it as stickers, keychains, and clothing without ruining the earth. Print-to-order merch seemed the most sensible solution. No wasteful inventory, no increases in carbon footprint due to unnecessary purchases, no fast fashion. Everything is as deliberate as inking a sketch, and I like that.
Not trying to sound pretentious or anything with that. Let an artist have her moments, yeah?
And I hope people enjoy my silly art in ways they can wear.
