What's better than a sticker? A glow in the dark sticker, that's what!
The banshee's wail heralds an impending death, usually associated with prominent families. We were always warned to avoid combs we saw lying on the ground while out and about, as it may belong to the banshee, and you wouldn't want to invite her attention. (But then again, we were always warned to avoid the attention of na daoine sídhe, or the Other Crowd, or the Fair Folk, whatever term you like to call them by!)
My banshee holds a ghostly comb, and wears a Celtic style torque, similar to those seen in the Kildare Street Museum of Archaeology in Dublin City. Her dress is actually based on a death shroud that a body would have been dressed in, as preparation for the upcoming wake. The shroud I based it on was from a catalogue from the mid 19th Century.
She is surrounded by hawthorn blossoms, as hawthorns symbolise a portal to the Other Place, and we were always warned to not play near hawthorn trees.
All in all, banshees are depicted incorrectly in most media, and I hoped that even though she's anime style, I could give her much more of a connection to her genuine Irish roots.
